Keeneland Sept Day-3: US$2.1M For Tapit Colt
On day three of the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Kentucky, a colt by leading North American sire Tapit became the highest-priced purchase of the sale so far when knocked down to Mandy Pope's Whisper Hill Farm for US$2.1 million. Gainesway, as agent, consigned the colt (Hip 614), who is out of the Mr Greeley mare Silver Colors, a daughter of champion mare and Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors. "I thought he was one of the nicest colts in the sale," Pope said. "He has such a gorgeous long stride, lovely hip and shoulder, great attitude. I just love the way this horse moved." She added: "I bought his full sister (Tapping Colors) last year for US$700,000. She hasn't made it to the races yet, but she's going to. It's a great family."
