Kirramosa Ready To Produce Best
Former New Zealand and now Randwick-based trainer John Sargent has provided an update on talented racemare Kirramosa who runs in the $500,000 Gr1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday. The VRC Oaks winner has returned in top shape with two excellent runs this campaign, including a last start fifth in the Gr2 Tramway Stakes at Randwick over 1400m. The now 5YO mare has finished off both races in fine style, convincing Sargent, for the time being at least, to keep her at a mile. "I think a mile here on Saturday, which is like 200 metres really, will suit her. I think she is a good chance on Saturday," revealed Sargent. "Tommy Berry has had one ride on her for one win in the Wakeful Stakes, so he knows her well...hopefully she can reproduce that form she showed as a 3YO." He added: "I know she can stay, but she has a bit of brilliance which she's showed in her first two runs, so at this stage I will be keeping her at a mile." Sargent said the plan is to head towards the Gr1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on 3 October, before continuing her campaign in Melbourne. "If she runs well on Saturday she will carry on and run in the Epsom with 52kg," he said. "After the Epsom I'd love to get her down to Melbourne. She is entered in both the Cups [the Melbourne & Caulfield Cup] but we will just play it by ear."
