Terravista Set To "Destroy Shorts Field"
Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride has provided an update on star sprinter Terravista who kicks off his spring campaign in the Gr2 Shorts (1100m) at Randwick tomorrow. Pride is delighted with how last year's Gr1 Darley Classic winner has returned from a break, and said his only concern leading into the weekend was the state of the track. "He's super. His trials have been excellent, exactly what I wanted to see. I'm very pleased with him," Pride told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "We are in the hands of the weather at the moment. I don't want too much rain. He's a good wet tracker but I don't want to run him first-up on a heavy surface." Pride said he expects the top-class speedster to win on Saturday, before heading to Melbourne for the feature sprints over the carnival. "He's the best horse in the race, that's clear. He's a far superior galloper to those horses," Pride said matter-of-factly. "I don't take it for granted that he just goes out and wins, racing doesn't work like that. But certainly if he hits top gear he will destroy that field." Terravista will be ridden by Hugh Bowman and has drawn barrier six in the nine horse field. Click here to view Randwick fields.
