Kingston Hill Retired To Stud

Monday, 21st September 2015

Classic winner Kingston Hill (Mastercraftsman-Audacieuse, by Rainbow Quest ) has been retired to stud and will join Coolmore's Irish roster next season. The high class son of Mastercraftsman retires with 4 wins from 8 starts including two Gr1 victories in the Racing Post Trophy and the English St Leger. Kingston Hill's significant talent was also on display when he finished runner-up to Australia in the English Derby at Epsom, as well as in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe when a close-up fourth behind superstar mare Treve. "We had hoped to get Kingston Hill back for the latter part of this season but sadly this has not been possible and the decision has been made to retire him," trainer Roger Varian said. "He was a very special horse for our yard giving us our first two-year-old Group 1 and classic successes. In another year he might well have won the Epsom Derby but he ran into a very good horse in Australia. He's a beautiful mover with a great cruising speed and a turn of foot – pretty much everything you look for in a top class racehorse."
