Pearls Wins Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Darley's former Champion Australian Sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a Group success when 3YO Godolphin filly Pearls (Exceed and Excel-Accessories, by Singspiel) scored by 0.4-length for trainer John O'Shea in the $175,000 Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Honesta (Monaco Consul-Always Loyal, by Bradbury's Luck) & Kimberley Star (Star Witness-Kiss the Sun, by Anabaa). This was the first stakes victory for the well related Pearls who took her record to 2 wins and 1 placing from 3 starts for $132,175 earnings. Pearls becomes the fourth individual stakes winner for her outstanding dam Accessories (Singspiel), who has also produced Gr1 winners Epaulette (Commands), Helmet (Exceed And Excel), and Gr3 winner Bullbars (Elusive Quality). O'Shea said Pearls is likely to progress to the Gr1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick in two weeks time.
