Livamol Next For Pondarosa Miss
Spring plans for Pondarosa Miss (High Chaparral-Bak da Princess, by Danske) remain unchanged with Peter Hollinshead happy to return to Hastings after the false start to the second day of the Hawke's Bay carnival, reports NZ Racing Desk. The high-class mare will be back for the Gr1 Livamol Classic on October 3 with her Te Awamutu trainer unfazed about tackling the 2000 metres without her planned lead-up in the postponed Gr1 Windsor Park Plate. "She'll go back in a couple of weeks, she doesn't take a lot to get ready," Hollinshead said. "She's only a lightly-framed mare and stepping up in trip won't worry her. She's as well as she can be, I couldn't be any happier." Pondarosa Miss is being aimed at the Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on 3 November, but Hollinshead says there are plenty of other options available for the versatile 5YO. "We'll see what happens first at Hastings, but the plan is to go to Melbourne after that," Hollinshead said. "We'd like to run her in the Geelong Cup, but there are other options for her and we've still got her in the Cox Plate - if she beat them all at Hawke's Bay then she could run in that before the Melbourne Cup." He added: "There's a lot of good money races for her over there even if she didn't get in the cup. She's got 50.5kg and there's a way to go yet and a few will be dropping out."
