Contributer In Valley Workout

Wednesday, 23rd September 2015

Star Godolphin galloper Contributer (High Chaparral-Serisia, by Exit to Nowhere) continued his preparation for Saturday's Gr1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield with a track gallop at Moonee Valley yesterday. Godolphin's Melbourne foreman David Charles was on hand to supervise the solo gallop and said he was pleased with the work. "It's well documented he went to Bendigo last week, John [trainer John O'Shea} was there and was very happy with his work there and he's come on since that gallop," Charles told Sky Racing. "We brought him here this morning and we're very happy." Contributer is currently the $3.80 TAB favourite for the Underwood, ahead of Makybe Diva Stakes winner Fawkner ($4), Makybe runner-up Rising Romance ($7.50) and popular Tasmanian galloper The Cleaner at $8.50. Contributer is the second highest rated horse in the race, behind Fawkner, with a handicap rating of 113, and Charles is confident he will give a bold showing. "We're expecting him to run very well," Charles said. Godolphin's No.1 jockey James McDonald will be reunited with Contributer on Saturday, after missing the ride when the horse ran fifth first-up in the Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes.
