Cox Plate Option For Rising Romance

Wednesday, 23rd September 2015

The Caulfield Cup remains the primary spring target for Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) but the Lindsay Park team have not ruled out a start in the Cox Plate, reports Racing.com. The top-class mare had her first look at Moonee Valley yesterday morning to familiarise herself with the track's unique nuances in case connections decide to alter her programme. The 5YO, who finished second to Fawkner in the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last start, worked on the course proper alongside the Tony McEvoy-trained pair of Alpine Eagle and Big Memory. "I was impressed with her, it was very good work," said Gary Fennessy, assistant trainer to David Hayes and Tom Dabernig. "[It was] just to give her a look at the place, in case plans change a bit and you come and run here. I think her main race will be the Caulfield Cup, but you never know, if you have some setbacks or something, you might switch." He added: "She'll probably run in the Turnbull (Gr1 Turnbull Stakes) as her next start and then David will work it out from there which way he goes."
