Keeneland Sept Day-7: US$975K For Curlin Filly
A filly by Curlin fetched US$975,000 to be the day's top seller during a strong seventh session of the 72nd Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Monday. Consigned by Lane's End as agent, the filly was purchased by John Brocklebank as agent for Utah-based Dickman's Legacy Ranch and is out of the stakes winner Epitome of a Lady from the family of Gr3 winners Above Perfection and Hot Dixie Chick. On Monday, the final day of the Book 3 portion of the sale, 270 yearlings sold for US$21,034,500, up 13.32 per cent from the corresponding session last year when 298 horses brought US$18,562,000. The average of US$77,906 rose 25.07 per cent from US$62,289 in 2014. The median of US$55,000 was 10 per cent above last year's US$50,000. Through seven sessions, Keeneland has sold 1,504 horses for US$245,570,500, down slightly from last year's eight-day gross of US$245,951,500 for 1,588 yearlings. The cumulative average of US$163,278 increased 5.42 per cent from US$154,881 in 2014, while the median of US$105,000 rose five per cent from last year's US$100,000.
