Nikolic Refused QLD Licence

Wednesday, 23rd September 2015

Controversial hoop Danny Nikolic yesterday lost his latest bid to return to the saddle with Racing Queensland declining his application for a jockey's licence. In a statement released yesterday, RQ said: "Racing Queensland's Licensing Committee advises it has today declined Danny Nikolic's application for a jockey's licence in Queensland. Mr Nikolic has been informed of the decision and his rights of appeal. Racing Queensland will be making no further comment on the matter." Nikolic was disqualified for 12 months after being found guilty of threatening Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey and his family at the Seymour races in September 2012. His ban was then extended until midnight September 30, 2015 after he was found guilty of verbally abusing steward Wade Hadley at a VCAT hearing. The news follows the announcement last week by Racing Victoria that police have banned Nikolic from entering any racetrack in Victoria.
