Ragnaar Set To Plunder Stutt Stakes
Meanwhile, trainer Lee Freedman says he is pleased with the progress of former Kiwi galloper Ragnaar (Roc de Cambes-Fidgette, by Viking Ruler) who looked a stakes winner in the making when scoring on his Australian debut at Bendigo seven days ago. Freedman confirmed the 3YO son of Roc de Cambes will have his next run in either the Gr2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday 2 October, or a benchmark handicap at Caulfield the following day. "He's come through the run really well," Freedman told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "He's bouncing around the place. In fact I'll probably give him a pretty serious hit-out this morning [Wednesday]. He's a big, strong horse and if he gets above himself you know all about it." He added: "Next week we will enter him for the Stutt Stakes and we'll enter for a benchmark at Caulfield but he will run Friday or Saturday next week providing we don't have any setbacks."
