Pharoah Gallops Ahead Of Breeders' Cup
Triple Crown hero American Pharoah worked five furlongs at Santa Anita Park on Sunday morning as he continues his preparation for the US$5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland on 31 October, reports Blood Horse. "He looked great," Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said of the gallop, which was the second for the champion colt since his shock loss to Keen Ice in the Gr1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on 29 August. The 10-furlong BC Classic is shaping as an epic showdown between American Pharoah, who will retire to Ashford Stud at the end of his racing career, and the Spendthrift Farm-owned mare Beholder, who posted the ninth Gr1 success of her exceptional career in Saturday's Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
