Treve Poised For Greatness

Tuesday, 29th September 2015

Criquette Head-Maarek says that Treve is at the peak of her form ahead of her bid for an unprecedented third success in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, a victory that she believes will make her the greatest female thoroughbred in turf history, reports Racing Post. "I just want to get her there and see her win," said Head-Maarek. "I'm not saying she's unbeatable but I'm going to bring her the best I can so she can make a good show." She added: "I feel she's better than last year and, for me, she's back to her best, that's for sure. The turn of foot she has is incredible." Seven horses have won Europe's weight-for-age championship twice, but no horse has won three. Should she capture a third Arc, Treve will be regarded by many as racing's greatest ever filly or mare. Head-Maarek will be among that number. "It will place her on top because no horse has ever done this before," she said. "I do agree if she wins three Arcs she will be the greatest." Her latest win, in the Gr1 Prix Vermeille, is below.
