Spendthrift Australia Bolsters Sales Team

Monday, 7th March 2016

Spendthrift Australia has announced the appointment of Josh Rix to the Victorian-based farm’s sales team.  “We are excited to be working with Josh,” said Garry Cuddy, General Manager at Spendthrift Australia. “He is very enthusiastic and passionate about the industry, and we think he is a great fit to our team. If you did not meet him at the recent Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale, it will not be long until you hear from him. Josh will be in the full swing of things by the end of March, and I know he looks forward to getting to know everyone in our Thoroughbred community.” A Melbourne native, Rix grew up with a keen interest in sports, from tennis to cycling – and of course, horse racing. He spent a lot of time at the family farm in Gippsland during his youth, and played on his high school tennis team with two of John Sadler’s sons, furthering his interaction and interest with the world of horse racing. After finishing school and university, Rix pursued his own sporting career as a professional triathlete for 15 years, competing all over the world while residing in such places as France and the U.S. during the Australian winters. In recent years, Rix took his interest in horse racing to another level, including organising a group of mates to purchase a couple of broodmares and explore the pedigree and breeding side of Thoroughbred racing. That is where his interest developed into a passion, and Rix decided his next step in life was aimed at being involved in the industry full time. “I am thrilled to be part of the Spendthrift Australia team and the exciting things going on here,” said Rix. “I look forward to the year ahead and meeting all of the wonderful breeders we have in the industry.”
