Distance No Concern For Bow Creek

Thursday, 10th March 2016

Trainer John O'Shea is confident that talented import Bow Creek (Shamardal-Beneventa, by Most Welcome) can make it successive victories in Saturday's Gr1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington despite never winning at the distance. The Irish-bred 5YO entire registered his first Australian win since arriving in mid-2015 when scoring an impressive last-start victory in the Gr2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield. Champion jockey Damien Oliver has been booked to ride Bow Crrek who is currently the $3.20 TAB favourite for Saturday's $1.5 million feature. “He deserved his win last start after not having much luck the previous time," O’Shea told ANZ Bloodstock News. "Oliver was impressed with his will to win and isn’t worried about the extra distance. He’s got his problems getting out of the gates but from the outside (barrier 11) he should be able to find a spot."
