Terravista On The Mend

Friday, 11th March 2016

Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride has provided an update on the condition of star sprinter Terravista who was a surprise withdrawal from tomorrow's Gr1 Newmarket Handicap due to a hoof injury. Pride said that although he was disappointed, he was looking forward to a return clash with Terravista's old rival Chautauqua in the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in three weeks time. "He has improved overnight," Pride told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "The Galaxy is a touch too close being next Saturday so I think we see him back for the TJ at this stage." He added: "I'll give him a trial before the TJ but that will be it." Pride said the nature of the hoof injury was such that there was no chance of Terravista running tomorrow. "If they're not 100 per cent there is no point in running," he said. "He was quite sore yesterday morning [Wednesday] ." He added: "It's very disappointing. He's had a lovely preparation leading into the race. In the Lightning he did everything but win the race...but we move on."
