Heroic Valour Wins Gr1 Diamond Stakes

Monday, 14th March 2016

At Ellerslie in New Zealand, Coolmore's Gr1-winning son of Danehill and former champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) celebrated an elite success when 2YO colt Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock-Myrrh, by Nassipour) scored by a neck for trainers Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards in the NZ$200,000 Gr1 Diamond Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs, over fellow 2YO colt Wyndspelle (Iffraaj-Western Star, by High Chaparral) & 2YO filly O'Rachael (Northern Meteor-Guessed, by Snippetson). Heroic Valour powered to the top of the two-year-old standings in New Zealand when stretching his unbeaten record to three wins (including the Listed Matamata Slipper Stakes) from three starts for NZ$157,500 earnings. "He's a very talented colt and a very valuable one – we won't be making any decisions just yet on the next move," co-trainer Jamie Richards told NZ Racing Desk. "We'll take a couple of days and then make a plan." A half-brother to the Gr1 Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour, Heroic Valour was a NZ$400,000 Karaka yearling for Te Akau principal David Ellis, who also purchased the full-brother for NZ$510,000 earlier this year.
