Karaka Million Winner Rested

Tuesday, 15th March 2016

Co-trainer Eddie Chippendale has confirmed that Karaka Million winner Xiong Feng (Iffraaj-Stray, by Tale of the Cat) will be sent for a spell after suffering the first defeat of his career in last Saturday's Gr1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie, reports NZ Racing Desk. The son of Iffraaj trailed the field home in last place some 42 lengths from the winner. "He had a stone bruise come out this morning [Monday] and that's really all we can put that run down to," said Chippendale, who trains the colt in partnership with Stephen McKee. "He has been x-rayed and they are all fine. He knuckled over at the start and got bumped so he didn't have much go his way – he'll go for a spell now." Xiong Feng has won 3 of his 4 starts for over NZ$500,000 prize money.
