Change Of Tactics For Artie

Wednesday, 16th March 2016

Meanwhile, trainer Mick Price will advise Racing NSW stewards of a change in riding tactics for Golden Slipper second favourite Flying Artie in Saturday's 2YO Gr1 feature at Rosehill, reports horseracing.com.au. Price said he will be instructing jockey Damien Oliver to take up a more forward position in the $3.5 million juvenile feature, after Flying Artie finally had some good luck when drawing an inside gate (5). "It is the first time he has drawn a barrier and there is absolutely no reason why we have to ride him as we have been riding him from really bad barriers and trying to work our way around that," Price said. "I think it will be a refer to stewards and change of riding instructions and just go forward and put him in the race. D Oliver [is] on and he knows him well." Price added: "There should be speed on...some will get back, and it should put him in a really nice spot." Flying Artie, who is coming off a last-start second behind stable-mate and Golden Slipper favourite Extreme Choice in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes, has firmed slightly from $6 into $5 after yesterday's fortuitous barrier draw. Price believes both his Slipper runners will prove very hard to beat come Saturday. "I think they are the best two colts in the race and if they have a nice run you will see them blast away and they will be very hard to beat both of them," he said.
