Trainer Relaxed About Derby Jockey

Wednesday, 16th March 2016

Connections of talented New Zealand colt What's The Story (Savabeel-Tall Story, by Carnegie) are in no rush to confirm a rider for the $2 million Gr1 Australian Derby, reports NZ Racing Desk. "It's easier to wait until after the Rosehill Guineas when the jockeys have sorted themselves out," co-trainer Stephen McKee said. What's The Story had a quiet week after finishing runner-up in the Gr1 New Zealand Derby and he will travel to Australia four days before the Randwick feature on 2 April - the opening day of The Championships. "He's got the base fitness and he'll have a couple of decent gallops before he goes over," McKee said.
