Magic Millions Adelaide Day-3: Good Journey Colt Rounds Out Outstanding Sale
Melbourne Cup winning trainer Darren Weir secured the top lot as a hugely successful 2016 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale came to a close at Morphettville yesterday. The champion horseman snapped up two of yesterday's feature lots headed by the Good Journey half brother to Tidy Prophet for $50,000. Catalogued as Lot 342, the good looking colt was offered by the Kelton family who race Tidy Prophet - a recent Adelaide winner who won the Port Lincoln Cup and ran a bold race in the Gr2 Adelaide Cup on Monday. Weir purchased the colt in conjunction with Queensland based bloodstock agent John Foote through racing manager Jeremy Rogers. The duo combined later in the afternoon to secure a Hussonet filly from Cornerstone Stud for $40,000. The second top priced seller on Wednesday was the Strategic-Forget Ima Lady colt from RJH Racing who sold to Aquanita Racing for $47,500. The strapping youngster is a half brother to the talented local performers Spoilspot and Nordic Eclipse. The success of Written Tycoon stock at the sale continued with his filly from Taunt Pauline offered by Noor Elaine Farm purchased for $41,000. That filly heads to Tasmania to join the stable of Written Tycoon's stakes winning filly Hot Dipped after being snapped up by Brendan McShane. During yesterday's Book Two auction over $1.458 million changed hands on 108 lots sold at an average price of $13,505 and clearance rate of over 87 per cent. All of those figures are up on last year's auction which recorded massive increases across the board. The bloodstock focus now switches to Queensland with the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale to be conducted on Monday and Tuesday. Click here to view the online catalogue.
