Rosemont Acquire Tarzino Interest
Top Victorian colt Tarzino (Tavistock-Zarzino, by Zabeel) will race for the first time in the red and white colours of Rosemont Stud in tomorrow's Gr1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens. The Victoria Derby winner, who is coming off a fast-finishing second to Palentino in the Australian Guineas, is the dominant $2.40 TAB favourite for the $600,000 3YO feature. “We are thrilled to join the ownership of Tarzino and have the honour of the colt running in our colours," Rosemont's Anthony Mithen told ANZ Bloodstock News. “He is clearly a high-class athlete who is yet to run a bad race and has so much racing upside.” He added: "His breeding is exceptional as well, being by a stallion we rate as the next big thing and out of a Zabeel mare. We have been looking at standing a mile to middle distance stallion for a while and after his gutsy effort in the Australian Guineas - the race that made Zabeel - he presents as the ideal horse." By Cambridge Stud's exciting young stallion Tavistock (Montjeu), Tarzino is out of the Zabeel mare Zarzino and descends from the same female line as three-time Gr1-winning stallion Sky Chase, sire of 1996 Melbourne Cup and Cox Plate winner Saintly.
