Southern Legend Wins Listed The Sebring

Monday, 21st March 2016

At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Arrowfield Stud's multiple stakes-winning stallion Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice-Single's Bar, by Rory's Jester) added a black-type success when 3YO gelding Southern Legend (Not a Single Doubt-Donna's Appeal, by Carnegie) scored by 0.4-length for trainer Les Bridge in the $125,000 Listed The Sebring (1200m) for 3YOs, over 3YO fillies Egyptian Symbol (Stratum-Our Egyptian Raine, by Desert Sun) & Denmagic (Denman-Magic Zefta, by Viscount). This was the first stakes victory for the exciting Southern Legend who took his record to 3 wins from 5 starts for $143,890 earnings. Southern Legend, who hails from the female family of South African Gr1 winner Sydney's Dream - the dam of Arrowfield's Gr1-winning stallion Charge Forward -  as well as multiple Group winner Kidman's Cove and Gimcrack Stakes winner Donna Natalia, was purchased for $280,000 at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of George Altomonte's Corumbene Stud. Trainer Les Bridge said Southern Legend will now head to the spelling paddock to get ready for the spring. "He just keeps raising the bar and he is going to have a spell now," he said. "I can visualise him winning a really nice race later."
