Zamzam Wins Listed Valley Pearl

Monday, 21st March 2016

At Moonee Valley in Victoria, Arrowfield Stud's multiple Champion Australian Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a black-type success when 2YO filly Zamzam (Redoute's Choice-Fleur De'here, by Dehere) scored by 0.2-length for trainers David Hayes & Tom Dabernig in the $120,000 Listed Valley Pearl (1200m) for 2YO fillies, over fellow fillies Legless Veuve (Pins-Hyades, by O'Reilly) & Gloriette (Lonhro-Viennese, by Redoute's Choice). This was the first stakes victory for the highly promising Zamzam who advanced her record to 2 wins and 1 placing (the Gr1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes) from 4 starts for $230,000 earnings. Purchased by Shadwell Australia for $920,000 at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Newgate Farm, Zamzam is out of the Gr1-placed (Manawatu Sires' Produce Styakes) Dehere mare Fleur De'Here and descends from the successful Sanderae (NZ) family of Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor, Australasian Oaks winner Tully Thunder, North American Gr1 winner Black Mamba, Gr2 winner Fleur De Chine and Gr3 winner Sneetch.
