Stanley Disqualified For 9 Months
Meanwhile, Victorian trainer Brent Stanley was yesterday disqualified for 9 months by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board after pleading guilty to charges relating to fraudulent and dishonest conduct over the sale of Equita, reports Racing.com. Stanley told the owners of Equita that the horse had been sold for $200,000, when in fact he had been purchased by Hong Kong trainer Danny Shum for $290,000. Stanley pocketed $70,000 without the owners' knowledge or consent. He also lied to stewards when questioned about this, telling them he never received a commission. The RAD Board disqualified Stanley for nine months for the first charge of dishonest and fraudulent conduct, while disqualifying him for a period of three months for two other charges relating to giving false evidence and making misleading statements to stewards. Stanley's disqualification commences at midnight on Monday, 28 March.
