Aerovelocity Ruled Out Of Gr1

Wednesday, 23rd March 2016

Outstanding Hong Kong-based New Zealand-bred sprinter Aerovelocity (Pins-Exodus, by Kaapstad) has been denied the opportunity to defend his title in Sunday's Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo in Japan due to a bout of colic, reports NZ Racing Desk. Aerovelocity looked beaten in last year's edition of the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, before jumping out of the ground in the final 50 metres to defeat Hakusan Moon and Mikki Isle. "Aerovelocity had got to the point where we needed to treat him or things could have got very serious," trainer Paul O'Sullivan said. "It was an easy decision to make." Aerovelocity was last seen winning the Gr1 Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m) at Sha Tin which boosted his record to 11 wins (also including the Gr1 Krisflyer International Sprint & Gr1 Hong Kong Sprint) from 20 starts for nearly $NZ6 million earnings.
