Magic Millions March Sale Day-2: $180K For Mossman Filly
A filly by Vinery stallion Mossman topped the final day of the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale when sold for $180,000 on Tuesday. The filly, consigned as lot 363 by Oakwood Farm, was purchased by Gr1 winning trainer Mick Mair after healthy competition from around the ring. “She’s a lovely filly,” Mair said. “I’ve had a lot of luck with the family and I’m hoping she can continue that.” The top horseman added: “Mossman is a leading sire and she has the looks and conformation to make it on the track." The Mossman filly is the last foal from The Spear, a Brisbane winning Lion Hunter mare, who has already produced the group performer Fast Arrow. She was one of three individual lots to sell for $100,000 or more – the other star filly of the day was the Hussonet-Morinda youngster from Jorson Farm who sold to David Vandyke for $120,000. A colt by Real Saga from Lyndhurst Stud Farm sold for $100,000 to Norm Stephens earlier in the afternoon. Some eight yearlings at the auction sold for six figure prices.
