Jameka To Run In Vinery

Thursday, 24th March 2016

Meanwhile, trainer Ciaron Maher says that top Victorian filly Jameka is likely to back up in the Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes (formerly known as the Storm Queen Stakes) at Rosehill on Saturday. Last season's VRC Oaks winner ran yet another honest race when third to Tarzino in last weekend's Gr1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), and Maher sees no reason not to run again on Saturday. "She may do. We will look at the race when the acceptances come out," Maher told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "If the race maps well I would say its most likely she will run. She's pulled up really well, she's nice and bright...and she has a great constitution...so yeah, all being well she'll be there." He added: "If she does run in the Vinery that rules out the Derby [Gr1 Australian Derby on 2 April], but if the Vinery doesn't map well for her we may have a shot at the Derby."
