Tuesday, 29th March 2016

At Chukyo racecourse in Japan, 5YO entire Big Arthur (Sakura Bakushin O-Siyabona, by Kingmambo) claimed the first top-flight victory of his career when scoring by 0.75-length for trainer Kenichi Fujioka in the Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m) for 4YO+, over fellow 5YO entire Mikki Isle (Deep Impact-Star Isle, by Rock of Gibraltar) & 4YO mare Albiano (Harlan's Holiday-Antics, by Unbridled). Big Arthur took his record to 7 wins from 11 starts and ¥239,887,000 earnings. “With the fast-pace track condition, we were able to break well and travel smoothly in perfect position. The frontrunners were persistent but my mount managed to fend them off. The horse has the form of a great sprinter and can also maintain speed. He will definitely be leading the sprinters going forward,” commented jockey Yuichi Fukunaga.
