Dam Of Tapit Dies

Tuesday, 29th March 2016

Blood Horse reports that Tap Your Heels, the dam of champion North American sire Tapit, died last Thursday due to foaling complications. The daughter of Unbridled was 20. "We would like to thank Gerry Dilger and all his staff at Dromoland Farm, who have looked after her like royalty over the past 15 years," owner Barouche Stud said on Facebook. "She will be sadly missed by her owner Mrs Barbara Facchino and all at Barouche Stud and Dromoland Farms." Sold for US$900,000 at the 2002 Keeneland November Breeding-Stock Sale, Tap Your Heels' price was justified when her first foal by Pulpit turned out to be Tapit. Tapit won 3 of his 6 starts, including the Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes, before scaling even greater heights as a stallion being twice named champion sire of North America.
