Thursday, 31st March 2016

Siblings to Winx, Preferment, Attention and a wave of recent stakes performers have arrived in Sydney and are ready for inspection ahead of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. In two short months since the catalogue went to print, black type races across the globe have reinforced the success of Easter graduates and the pedigrees of the outstanding yearlings on show at this year's sale. The Championships at Royal Randwick is also set to showcase the older siblings of a number of yearlings set for sale including the aforementioned trio plus Happy Hannah, Criterion, Vanbrugh, Politeness, Good Project, Bounding and Peeping. Lot 135 (Snitzel x Vegas Showgirl), the half-brother to Winx has drawn exceptional interest, and not just because his half-sister is set to stretch her unbeaten run to nine this weekend in the Group 1 ATC Doncaster Mile. Vegas Showgirl's two-year-old by Snitzel, El Divino is nominated for the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes on the same day. Saturday will also see Snowden Racing and James Harron's latest two-year-old star and Group 3 winning colt Attention contest the Group 1 Inglis Sires' Produce Stakes, ahead of his three-quarter-brother by Snitzel selling at Easter on Wednesday as Lot 306 (Snitzel x Flamboyance). Day Two of The Championships will see Preferment contest either the Queen Elizabeth Stakes or the Sydney Cup. The colt's outstanding form has seen him add the Group 1 BMW/Australian Cup double to his record in the last month, exciting connections of his half-brother by Rip Van Winkle that will be offered as Lot 198 (Rip Van Winkle x Better Alternative). The party lucky enough to secure Lot 158 (More Than Ready x Absolute Joy), from the family of recent stakes winners Don't Doubt Mamma, Telperion and The Justice League, will be carefully watching the result of his sister Happy Hannah as she contests the Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks. Other runners lining up in Group 1 races on the following two Saturdays with siblings at Easter include Criterion (Lot 399), Vanbrugh (Lot 567), Politeness (Lot 197), Good Project (Lot 490), Bounding (Lot 195), and Peeping (Lot 413). The majority of yearlings have begun parading at Newmarket, ahead of selling from 10am each day on 5, 6 and 7 April. All yearlings offered at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale are eligible to be nominated for the lucrative $5 million Inglis Race Series covering their 2YO, 3YO and 4YO racing seasons.
