King George Defence On Agenda For Postponed

Thursday, 31st March 2016

British trainer Roger Varian says that Dubai Sheema Classic winner Postponed's (Dubawi-Ever Rigg, by Dubai Destination) European campaign is yet to be decided, but that it will revolve around a defence of his King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes crown at Ascot and a trip to Longchamp later in the year, reports Sky Sports. The Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum-owned 5YO is now undefeated in two starts for Varian since being transferred from the stable of Luca Cumani in September. "He's come out of it well, he arrived back in the UK yesterday [Monday] and everything went very smoothly," Varian said. "We haven't decided on a plan for him yet, we'll see how he is over the next few days and then we'll speak to the owner about his next race." He added: "His big midsummer target will be the King George again, so we'll work backwards from that and then his autumn target will be the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and we'll plan around that."
