MM Broodmare Sale Day-2: $1 Million For Peggy Jean
Gr1-winning juvenile Peggy Jean topped Day Two of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale yesterday when selling to Widden Stud for a cool $1 million on the Gold Coast. The good looking daughter of Myboycharlie, who is in foal to I Am Invincible, was presented at the auction by Yarraman Park Stud as agent for Triple Crown Syndications. It was the second time Peggy Jean had been sold through the National Sale ring in Queensland having originally been purchased for $25,000 at the 2012 National Weanling Sale when offered by Donnybrook Estates. On the track Peggy Jean proved her class by winning two feature races as a juvenile, highlighted by her victory in the Gr1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick. "She's just gorgeous," Widden Stud's Antony Thompson said. "She's a mare that I think will breed a sale topper. She's got a lovely deep pedigree and it's there right on top as a Group One winning two-year-old." Thompson added: "She's a lovely mare for Sebring, so he looks the obvious choice and I think a Sebring out of Peggy Jean is something that every trainer around Australia would love to have in their stable."
