Nyquist Returns To The Track

Friday, 3rd June 2016

Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist (Uncle Mo), who was ruled out of the Belmont Stakes after spiking a fever, returned to the track on Thursday for the first time since his third-place finish in the Preakness Stakes on 31 May, reports Blood Horse. Accompanied on the pony by trainer Doug O'Neill's assistant, Jack Sisterson, Nyquist jogged one lap around the main track at Pimlico. "He went great this morning. We just jogged him once, backtracked him around and he was full of energy; everything we wanted to see first day back after his slight issue there but he's doing great," Sisterson said. "We're very happy and optimistic moving forward with Nyquist." Nyquist is expected to return home to California on Sunday morning. No plans have been made regarding his next run.
