Laughing Gravy Wins Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup
At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, 5YO Australian-bred gelding Laughing Gravy (Primus-Foxy Moi, by Rubiton) landed the biggest prize of his career when scoring by 2.5-lengths for trainer Cliff Brown in the S$500,000 Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2000m) for 3YO+, over 5YO Argentinian-bred gelding Cooptado (Equal Stripes-Coordinada, by Ride the Rails) & 6YO New Zealand-bred gelding Bourbon Goldman (Gallant Guru-Zerperfluous, by Zerpour). This was the first stakes victory for Laughing Gravy who improved his record to 7 wins and 4 placings from 18 starts for over S$400,000 prize money. Jockey Glen Boss said that Laughing Gravy was still improving despite being an 18 race veteran. "He smashed them at his last run and was up in grade this time, but I think people ignore the obvious,” Boss said. “To me, all these horses he was up against have already reached their mark. They’re good, but that’s it, they cannot get any better." Boss added: "Whereas for my bloke, we don’t know where he’s at. It’s an unknown and he has so much untapped potential, and that’s the beauty about him."
