Minding Wins Gr1 English Oaks

Monday, 6th June 2016

At Epsom in the UK, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) celebrated an elite success when 3YO filly Minding (Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer) scored by 1.75-lengths for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr1 English Oaks (2400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Architecture (Zoffany-Brigayev, by Fasliyev) & Harlequeen (Canford Cliffs-Aurelia, by Rainbow Quest). The beautifully bred Minding, who is out of dual Gr1 winning filly Lillie Langtry, improved her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 English 1,000 Guineas, Gr1 Fillies' Mile & Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas) from 8 starts for £1,066,578 earnings. Trainer Aidan O'Brien was in awe of his brilliant filly. "She's incredible, what can I say? She has speed, class, stamina and a great mind. She has everything and Ryan did brilliantly to win after what she went through," O'Brien told Racing Post. "Real heart and guts and courage had to come into it with a furlong and a half to go and she had it in abundance." He added: "Like all the Galileos, when you go digging, they usually have it. We will give her a little easy time now and then pick a time for her."
