Wednesday, 15th June 2016

On day one of the Royal Ascot carnival in the UK, former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) celebrated an elite success when 4YO entire Profitable (Invincible Spirit-Dani Ridge, by Indian Ridge) scored by a neck for trainer Clive Cox in the Gr1 King's Stand Stakes (5 furlongs) for 3YO+, over fellow 4YO entires Cotai Glory (Exceed and Excel-Continua, by Elusive Quality) & Goken (Kendargent-Gooseley Chope, by Indian Rocket). This was the first Gr1 victory for Profitable who advanced his record to 5 wins (including the Gr2 Temple Stakes) and 5 placings from 15 starts for £153,409 earnings. "He's special," trainer Clive Cox told Racing Post. "You need a special horse to come here and do it. This is what we're chasing all the time, this is why we want to be here." Cox said he would now consider running Profitable in next month's Gr1 July Cup at Newmarket.
