Sofia Rosa Back In Work

Thursday, 16th June 2016

Australian Oaks winner Sofia Rosa (Makfi-Bislieri, by Encosta de Lago) has returned to the stable of trainer Stephen Marsh as she commences her build-up towards the spring, reports theinformant.co.nz. Sofia Rosa, who races in the same distinctive lime green silks as star Kiwi mare Lucia Valentina on behalf of owner Lib Petagna, is expected to head straight to Melbourne to kick off her spring campaign. "She's been back in work for about a week now," Marsh's foreman Rhys Mildon said. "She's come back looking really well. We're very happy with her. I believe the plan is for her to go straight to Australia to begin her campaign." Her trainer has previously stated that the Gr1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) would be a suitable spring target. "We always thought that she was a Caulfield Cup type of horse," Marsh said after Sofia Rosa's Australian Oaks victory. "That's the path we took with Lucia Valentina [third in the 2014 Caulfield Cup], and that's the same sort of path we'll take with this horse."
