Lankan Rupee On The Mend

Friday, 17th June 2016

Star sprinter Lankan Rupee (Redoute's Choice) is making good progress in his rehabilitation from injury and could make a belated appearance during the spring carnival in Melbourne, reports Racing.com. The 5-time Gr1 winner was diagnosed with bone necrosis after finishing a lacklustre third in the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) in October. "The signs are positive with him and his recovery from injury," trainer Mick Price said. "The previous core lesion in the hock is no longer visible and both ligaments are healthy and looking good." Price added: "We're going to put him into some slow canter work over the next eight weeks and he may catch one or two races in the late spring." Price said the Gr1 Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington in November could be a suitable target for the 6YO.
