Vassal Worth The Wait At Rosehill

Friday, 17th June 2016

While tomorrow’s feature racing all takes place at Ipswich in Queensland where there are three black type events, Sydney race goers are faced with some tricky affairs on a 9-race card. Given his success with imported gallopers, they could do well to keep their powder dry for the Chris Waller-trained Vassal in Race 8. The 1800m event has attracted a couple of live chances, including last start 4.5-lengths Canterbury winner Santa Rocks. By Dansili, French-bred Vassal is yet to miss a place from 6 local starts, including a hat-trick that nearly became 4-straight when beaten a head last start as favourite over 2000m at Randwick. Vassal is drawn to be within striking distance of the leading brigade tomorrow and gets some weight relief to boot. At $3.60 and $1.90 fixed he looks one of the better value options on a day where forecast rain might add yet another layer of complexity.
