5-time Gr1-winning US mare Untapable has been retired, reports Blood Horse. Owner Ron Winchell of Winchell Thoroughbreds announced the news via Twitter on Sunday. "Untapable is officially being retired," Winchell said. "After having a truly great (3-year-old) season and currently the (No. 1) earner for Tapit - it's about time!" Crowned the Eclipse champion 3YO filly of 2014 , Untapable won 9 of her 20 starts for trainer Steve Asmussen amassing US$3.9 million in prize money. Untapable enjoyed an outstanding 3YO season winning six of her seven outings including 4 at Group 1 level, namely the Breeders' Cup Distaff, Kentucky Oaks, Cotillon Stakes and Mother Goose Stakes. She returned as a 4YO to capture the Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn to boost her overall Gr1 tally to five. From the Prized mare Fun House, Untapable has a 2YO full sister named Untapped, a yearling full sister, and a full brother foaled April 26.
