Petits Filous To Miss Spring

Wednesday, 22nd June 2016

Talented sprinting filly Petits Filous (Street Boss-Excellent Lady, by Exceed and Excel) has been ruled out of the spring after undergoing surgery. The Gr3 winner has not raced since pulling up sore in the Gr1 Robert Sangster Classic (finishing 13th of 20 runners) at Morphettville in May. Subsequent tests revealed the 3YO had bone chips in one of her knees which required surgery. "She had some knee surgery after her run in Adelaide, so she will be out for the spring," Maher told Melbourne's Radio Sport National (RSN) yesterday. "She had a couple of bone chips in her knee but the surgery went well and she is back spelling down at Warrnambool." He added: "She changed stride a number of times in the straight which usually means they are feeling something, so we got her checked out. It most likely happened during that race." Maher said the daughter of dual Gr1-winning US sprinter Street Boss would need plenty of time off to recover and hopefully would be back in action early next year. "She will probably make her return in the autumn," he said.
