Manikato Target For Holler

Thursday, 23rd June 2016

Godolphin trainer John O'Shea has confirmed that Australian sprinter Holler will not contest next month's Gr1 July Cup at Newmarket and instead will return home to prepare for the feature sprints in the spring, reports Racing.com. The 3YO failed in his quest to become the latest Antipodean sprinter to win at Royal Ascot when finishing a disappointing 7th (beaten 2.5-lengths) in the Gr1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (6 furlongs) last Saturday. "He's come out of the race well but he'll have a break now," O'Shea said. "We will get him ready for the big races in the spring at home." He added: "The race that springs to mind is the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley [Gr1 on 21 October]. He loves the Valley, and has run some big races there." Holler (Commands-Shouts, by Strategic) has built up an impressive record winning 4 of his 12 starts, highlighted by his Gr1 victory in the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick in March.
