Minding Wins Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes
At The Curragh in Ireland, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) celebrated an elite success when 3YO filly Minding (Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer) showcased her abundant class when scoring a dominant 4.5-length win for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes (10 furlongs) for fillies & mares, over 4YO mares Bocca Baciata (Big Bad Bob-Sovana, by Desert King) & Lucida (Shamardal-Lura, by Street Cry). The beautifully bred Minding, who is out of dual Gr1 winning filly Lillie Langtry, improved her record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 English Oaks, Gr1 English 1,000 Guineas, Gr1 Fillies' Mile & Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas) from 9 starts for £1,186,622 earnings. Trainer Aidan O'Brien said that Minding was likely to have her next start in the Gr1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on 30 July. "She's loving racing, getting very relaxed - she's very happy doing it. Ryan [jockey Ryan Moore] was delighted and, without putting it in stone, we'd look at the Nassau," O'Brien told Racing Post. "You couldn't rule out the Irish Oaks but we also have Even Song for that." Although Coolmore would no doubt be tempted to retire Minding at season's end now that she has five Gr1 wins to her name, O'Brien said he would like to see her train on. "I'll plead that she stays in training - she's exceptional," O'Brien said. "The beauty about her is how laid-back she is."
