Miss Cover Girl Wins Gr1 Tattersall's Tiara

Monday, 27th June 2016

At Eagle Farm in Brisbane, former Eliza Park International and now Sun Stud Queensland-based Gr3-winning stallion Monashee Mountain (Danzig-Prospectors Delite, by Mr Prospector) celebrated an elite success when 4YO mare Miss Cover Girl (Monashee Mountain-Tolart, by Show a Heart) scored a determined 1-length win for trainer Kelly Schweida in the $500,000 Gr1 Tattersall's Tiara (1400m) for fillies & mares, over 4YO New Zealand-bred mare Azkadellia (Shinko King-Raving, by Centaine) & fellow 4YO mare Sultry Feeling (Encosta de Lago-Visual Emotion, by Silver Deputy). In registering her first win since April last year, Miss Cover Girl advanced her record to 8 wins (including the Gr3 ATC PJ Bell Stakes) and 7 placings (including the Gr3 BRC Fred Best Classic & Gr3 Nivison Stakes) from 26 starts for $804,900 earnings. Winning jockey Damian Browne commented: "She's been a great mare but hasn't had a lot of luck right through her career," he told Sky Racing. "Today she was able to get into a great spot, everything just fell into place and she showed what she can do." Miss Cover Girl, who was passed in for $18,000 at the 2013 Magic Million QTIS Yearling Sale from the draft of Blue Hills Thoroughbreds, is likely to have a brief spell and be brought back fro a spring campaign.
