Sold For Song Wins Listed Daybreak Lover

Monday, 27th June 2016

At Eagle Farm in Brisbane, promising 3YO filly Sold For Song (Collate-Buena Chava, by O'Reilly) claimed the second black-type victory of her career when sweeping down the outside of the track to score by 0.3-length for trainer Kevin Kemp in the $125,000 Listed Daybreak Lover (1400m) for 3YOs, over 3YO gelding Salmanazar (Encosta de Lago-Maslins Beach, by Flying Spur) & fellow 3YO filly Tsaritsa (Dane Shadow-Xaar's Jewel, by Xaar). Sold For Song was purchased for just $2,500 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling Sale from the draft of Burwood Stud. An emotional Kevin Kemp was delighted with the result. "Its awesome to see her win again. I'm feeling a bit numb," Kemp told Sky Racing. "She is so honest and when I saw the other filly coming I thought, 'Gee, can we hang on' but she did." He added: "She's something special to me."
