Gollan Sets New QLD Record

Thursday, 30th June 2016

Tony Gollan broke his own Brisbane metropolitan training record yesterday when Hi I'm Back won the L & H Auslec Class 3 Handicap over 1200 metres at Doomben, reports the Courier Mail. Last year the Eagle Farm-based Gollan set a new Queensland benchmark of 79 metro winners when he broke the late Bruce McLachlan's longstanding record of 78 metro winners. His 2016/17 tally currently sits at 79.5 winners for the season. "I am always trying to improve our results," Gollan said. "Just like I did at the end of last season, I am going to have a look back and identify what we could have done better." He added: "But it has been a difficult training regime with everything that has been happening at Eagle Farm. We have a large team of horses with great support from a wonderful group of owners. It is a matter of identifying the young horses which are coming through which we think can go to the next level."
