Hiflyer Back Later This Month

Thursday, 30th June 2016

Exciting Kiwi 3YO Hiflyer (Tavistock-Lady Firebird, by Stravinsky) is set to return to trainer Peter Lock's Te Aroha stable in the next few weeks, reports theinformant.co.nz. Hiflyer, who has a win and three placings from his four starts, was sent to the spelling paddock in May to strengthen and mature in time for the spring. Lock has previously stated that the well related galloper is the most gifted horse he has ever trained, and believes he possesses the requisite talent to one day develop into a Group One horse. "He's not happy in the really heavy ground, so we've left him out spelling for a bit longer," Lock said. "We're very happy with him. We went to have a look at him the other day and he looks fantastic." Bred and part-owned by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Hiflyer is by Cambridge Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Tavistock (Montjeu), undoubtedly the most exciting stallion either side of the Tasman. Hiflyer hails from the outstanding female family of champion Australian racehorse Might And Power, champion Hong Kong galloper Lucky Owners, as well as 4-time Gr1 winning filly Mosheen.
