Alice Springs Wins Gr1 Sun Chariot Stakes

Tuesday, 4th October 2016

At Newmarket in the UK, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) celebrated an elite success when 3YO filly Alice Springs (Galileo-Aleagueoftheirown, by Danehill Dancer) scored by 0.75 length for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr1 Sun Chariot Stakes (8 furlongs) for 3YO+ fillies & mares, over 4YO mares Always Smile (Cape Cross-Eastern Joy, by Dubai Destination) & Ervedya (Siyouni-Elva, by King's Best). This was the third Gr1 victory for Alice Springs who advanced her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Matron Stakes & Gr1 Falmouth Stakes) and 6 placings (including the Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf) from 15 starts for £860,039 earnings. From the stakes-placed Danehill Dancer mare Aleagueoftheirown, Alice Springs is a full sister to the Lloyd & Nick Williams-owned Crocodile Rock, who looked a potential Melbourne Cup horse of the future when posting a brilliant debut Australian victory back in April.
