Ulmann Wins Listed Paris Lane Handicap

Tuesday, 4th October 2016

At Flemington in Melbourne, Australia's Champion 2YO Colt of 2007-2008 and Widden Stud sire Sebring (More Than Ready-Purespeed, by Flying Spur) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Ulmann (Sebring-Darsini, by Danehill) scored by 0.2 length for trainer Darren Weir in the $120,000 Listed Paris Lane Handicap (1400m) for 3YO+, over 7YO gelding Akavoroun (Lacryma Cristi-Salquetta, by Salieri) & 5YO gelding Federal (Medaglia d'Oro-Virago, by Danehill). This was the first stakes victory for Ulmann who improved his record to 5 wins and 5 placings (including the Gr3 Sunshine Coast Guineas & Listed VRC Sofitel Handicap) from 20 starts for $328,200 earnings. Purchased by Moody Racing for $280,000 at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Ulmann is a half-brother to dual Gr3 winning sprinter Mahisara from the Danehill mare Darsini. Darsini, in turn, is a granddaughter of Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Midnight Fever (LuskinStar). This is the family of Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond placegetter Startling Lass (herself a full sister to Midnight Fever), Gr1-winner Rock Classic, Caulfield Stakes, Turnbull Stakes and Brisbane Cup winner Igloo, as well as Gr3-placed stallion Dane Fever.
